HAL, Inc. Recommended Hardware and Consumables

  • The following list comprises some of the hardware currently being used by HAL, Inc. customers for use with C2C

  • RF HANDHELD DEVICES

When using handheld devices on your WiFi network they will need to be paired with appropriate access points and matching antenna hardware. We recommend a minimum of at least two handheld units and 2 access points for redundancy purposes. More handhelds and access points may be needed depending on the facility size and layout. External access point/antennas may also be necessary for proper coverage of yard locations.

Some of these devices come with or can be fitted with broadband radios for use on cellular networks. This option works well for warehouses, yards and remote location sites. These units would need to be fitted with SIM cards from a selected carrier and operate over broadband for which wireless fees would apply. With the use of the SIM card and additional software, some of these units can then also operate as mobile phones. The broadband feature must be requested/confirmed at the time of purchase from the supplier as the units will need to be ordered with the appropriate broadband radio already installed.

    STATIONARY LABEL PRINTER

Honeywell (formally DATAMAX) I-Class Mark II thermal transfer label printer (requires label and ribbon media) or Zebra equivalent with the integrated NIC.

The integrated NIC is important because we need to print to the label printer using TCP/IP printing.

    Link to Product

You can find various companies on the web that sell and support Honeywell label printers.

Please note, for maximum efficiency, label printers should be placed near the freight entry point(s) and the packing area(s) of the warehouse. For redundancy and business continuity purposes, we strongly recommend a minimum of two label printers.

    LABEL PRINTER MEDIA

Labels and Ribbons for Stationary Label Printer

We recommend Kimdura labels with wax resin ribbons. Label dimensions for C2C need to be 4 inches wide by 2.875 or 3.0 inches long. The transfer ribbon media is FP4. Note that roll size of both labels and ribbons are determined by the size of the printer. Media for stationary and wearable label printers will differ in roll size.

For Labels and Ribbons, we recommend Doug McCarver and Boomerang Packing Inc.

Doug and his team have been our go-to referral for Kimdura labels since 1994.
